The Syracuse Pistol Club began in 1948, in the basement of the Syracuse Armory , the club was formed with the vision of many Syracuse area residents who wanted a safe environment where they could practice the sport of target shooting and to also promote safe gun use. Our SPC Clubhouse on Henry Clay Blvd in Clay, NY was built in 1967 by a group of dedicated members and is the premier indoor range in Central NY.
That original group has now grown to over 1000 active members and continues to attract interest throughout the country and from local citizens who are proponents of safe gun use and who also enjoy the fun of organized target shooting competition. This history is being documented and we hope to have some snippets of our club history with the help from our current and former members. Regardless, we are not an overnight success - we have a strong membership of local citizens who are all proponents of safe gun use.
Over the years, we have grown beyond a bullseye pistol club. We have steel plate racks and courses of fire that are more realistic than a simple cardboard target, We have also advanced to allow the use of pistol caliber carbines ( PCCs ) that use the ammo we are used to shooting and adding the rifle platforms.
