Pistol League:

There are no restrictions on barrel length, scopes or dots, iron sights etc. All types of sights are ranked the same with our Pistol league. Shooting is with one hand only. There are provisions for two-handed shooting, based upon need. A person shooting two-handed is not eligible for certain awards.

CLASSES:

There are three classes:

1. Rim fire (.17 and .22 caliber)

2. Center fire (any caliber, no magnums)

3. Revolver (both rim fire and center fire)

Rifle League:

The Rifle League is limited to .17 and .22 rim fire ONLY.

CLASSES:

1. Iron Sighted rifle; any type iron sights, Two categories: Target & Sporter rifle.

2. Scoped Rifle; (dot or scope, no restrictions on power or size) Two categories Target & Sporter rifle.

No shooting slings, rests or artificial support allowed.

Definitions:

Target rifle: Heavy barrel or target triggers or target stocks; Any combination of more than one feature.

Sporter rifle: Tapered or light barrel, sporter stock, factory or modified triggers allowed.

NRA Terminology Vs. Ours:

The NRA bullseye competition categories are

1 - rim fire

2 - center fire, excluding .45 ACP

3 - 45 ACP:

Our rifle league is category 1. However, our pistol league combines the categories to best fit our members. We have few revolver shooters, so it made sense to put them all together, regardless of caliber. For center fire, we combined categories 2 and 3, again to best fit our members.

Syracuse Pistol Club League Rules

All league competition is an 18 week period with appropriate breaks for holidays etc.

League sessions alternate between a "Winter" league, and a "Summer" league.

The Winter league uses the indoor range and the Summer league uses the outdoor range.

If a shooter misses a week, that week is ignored when computing averages. It is not counted as a "zero".

At the beginning of a new season, shoot backs are allowed through the fourth week.

You can shoot multiple relays during any week to achieve "shoot aheads".

Shooters can "declare" prior to the relay and have that score applied to one or two additional future weeks.

All Standings (Team, Center Fire, Rim Fire, Revolver, Rifle) are published starting in week 4 and are based on yeartodate averages until week 12, then they are based on the high 12 week average.

Team and Class recognition and awards require a minimum of twelve weeks of competition and are based on the high twelve week average.

For rankings, if there is a tie score, the person following the tie is ranked in his position. Example: If the second and third place shooters are tied, the first four shooters are ranked as follows: 1224.

Rim Fire and Center Fire Classes

Class A (Master) 285+ (Perfect =300)

Class B (Expert) 270 but less than 285

Class C (Sharpshooter) 255 but less than 270

Class D (Marksman) Less than 255

Rifle Classes

Class A (Master) 230+ (Perfect = 250)

Class B (Expert) 205 but less than 230

Class C (Sharpshooter) 175 but less than 205

Class D (Rifleman) Less than 175

For returning shooters, class is based on the highest 12 week average from any previous season.

Once a classification is achieved, a shooter never falls below that classification. If, during a given season, a shooter's highest 12 week average places him/her into a higher classification, then that becomes the classification for future seasons.

For new shooters, class is determined by the average of the first four scores of the season.

For Rim Fire and Rifle, the most improved shooter award is based on the difference between the high 12 week average for the season just completed, and the average of the high 12 week averages over the prior two seasons.

For team standings in Rim Fire, the team average each week is based on the highest three scores by the team members. If fewer than 3 shooters score, the team is given a "miss" for the week.

For Revolver shooters, Center Fire, Rim Fire, Iron Sights, Red Dot Sights are all combined into one competition.

Additional information is available on the pink sheets in the back of score sheet package.
